The Jaguar Mark 2 or MK2 (which means series two) is a Jaguar car model marketed from 1959 to 1967. Very popular in competition (tourism category), the MK2 has notably won the Tour de France automobile four times in a row in the hands of Bernard Consten. "The most beautiful car in the world", the fastest production sedan in the world"... the Mk2 is no exception. She put sport within reach of fathers' steering wheel.
The Mk2 was available in three engines: 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 litres, with manual transmissions, with or without overdrive, or automatic, especially for the United States
Version 2.4 was an honest, unpretentious sedan with a certain softness, which was no longer the case with the 3.4. The 3.8 was the most sporty, it ran, and won, many rallies including the Tour de France auto. She also distinguished herself in Monte-Carlo, but without winning it. The Mk2 has brought some significant technical innovations: it was the first self-supporting hull car, i. e. without a separate chassis, of the brand.
