Description

This Lagonda LG 45 Sports Tourer is a magnificent specimen that is second to none. It was delivered in Great Britain in 1936 as a Drop Head Coupé (DHC) and was owned by a wealthy family for a long time. It was not until 1953 that the second owner acquired the Lagonda, who sold it 18 years later (1971) to David Dunn. At the end of the 1970s, Dunn decided to install the current Le Mans bodywork, which gave the Lagonda a sporty design. David Dunn owned the Lagonda for a considerable time and only sold the car to Robert Harley in 2005. A full overhaul was carried out in 2006, which Harley documented extensively with photos and videos. The car was put up for sale again in 2007 and came to the last and still current owner in the Stuttgart area. Over the past 16 years, the Lagonda has been used regularly at the relevant rallies and various rides.

In the long time since the car was first registered, some work has been carried out. This work has always been carried out professionally and to the highest standard, so that the Lagonda is still in very good condition today.

The bodywork and paintwork have a patina, which is one of the things that gives the vehicle its charm. The interior, which is blue, also matches the red body of the vehicle perfectly. The Lagonda offers space for four people and, as usual, the footwell is lined with beautiful carpets. The instruments and controls are sensibly arranged and function perfectly.

The LG45 is powered by a 4.5-liter engine originally designed by Meadows and later completed by W.O. Bentley, the founder of the car brand of the same name. The engine is characterized by wonderfully smooth running and enormous torque. The six-cylinder engine is coupled with a four-speed manual gearbox that shifts perfectly and provides a wonderful driving experience. After just a few meters, it becomes clear why the previous owners often used this car for sporty driving events.

The car has good documentation, including a Fiva passport, Lagonda archive extract, photo documentation of the engine overhaul and some invoices. It is a stunning Lagonda LG45 with beautiful Le Mans-style bodywork in good technical and visual condition. A welcome companion on classic car rallies or trips.

** History of the series**

The Lagonda LG45 Sports Tourer was an iconic automobile produced by the British car brand Lagonda in the 1930s. It was a luxurious vehicle that was renowned for its craftsmanship.

The LG45 was first introduced in 1936 and was an evolution of its successful predecessor, the LG45 Rapide. The Sports Tourer was a variant of the LG45 designed for sporty drivers who valued both speed and style.

The design of the LG45 Sports Tourer was timeless and appealing. The elongated hood, sweeping fenders and flowing rear end gave the vehicle an aerodynamic aesthetic. The body was crafted by renowned coachbuilders such as Vanden Plas and Abbott, who were known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Under the hood of the LG45 Sports Tourer was a powerful 4.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which gave the vehicle impressive performance. With a peak output of 140 hp and a top speed of over 160 km/h, the LG45 Sports Tourer was a true sports car for its time.

The interior of the LG45 Sports Tourer was just as impressive as the exterior. Unfortunately, production of the LG45 Sports Tourer was discontinued in 1939 due to the outbreak of the Second World War. Most of the vehicles were converted for the war effort or used for military purposes. Today, only a few examples of the LG45 Sports Tourer have survived and they are considered extremely rare and sought-after collector's items.

The Lagonda LG45 Sports Tourer remains a milestone in automotive history and a symbol of the elegance and luxury of the 1930s. Its timeless design and impressive performance make it a true classic that is still admired today.
