One of the very first Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MY '74, delivered new in Italy in September 1973 in orange, with blue and black interior, without options; being one of the first examples produced, it comes with the typical reinforcement in the central tunnel and the laminates of the rear wheel arches from the 2.7 Carrera RS whose production had ended a couple of months earlier. These characteristics distinguish the first 500 cars produced from the latter ones.
After the first years lived in the warm Puglia, between Taranto and Brindisi, in 1980 the car began its second life, much more lively than the first, as it became one of the rally cars of the Novara Corse - Tre Gazzelle team, prepared by the well-known Peppino Zonca, Tamauto team, as early as the day following its purchase. The Carrera 2.7 in fact lent itself to being used in rallies, only with the GT preparation, group 3: little more than a street legal version, the car received a rollbar, a couple of racing seats, four-point harnesses, a sumpguard in the underbody and four additional headlights on the hood: it successfully participated in the TRN (Trofeo Rally Nazionale), the National Rally Trophy driven by Riccardo Airoldi and Giovanna Muttini ad co-driver, almost always finishing in the Top 10, with more than flattering results for a GT.
Here are some of the main results in 1980: Rally dei vini - Asti 8th overall and 2nd in class, Rally delle Palme - Genova 6th overall and 1st in class, Rally di Fiuggi 2nd overall and 2nd in class, Rally 111 Minuti 4th overall and 2nd class. This excellent season allowed the young Airoldi to win the social championship as a driver and Giovanna Muttini as a co-driver.
The 1981 season was punctuated by several retirements due to bad luck, according to the reports, but despite this, the crew managed to do well in three TRN events, finishing 9th overall and 2nd in class in Zone 1. These are the 1981 results: Rally di Fiuggi 5th overall 1st in class, Rally dei vini - Asti 8th overall and 2nd class, Giro delle Valli Ossolane 5th overall 1st class. The car remained in the hands of the driver from Novara until the end of the 1980s and then passed to an owner who has kept it for almost 30 years.
An integral, preservative restoration was then started, recovering most of the original interiors; the surprisingly healthy bodywork has been completely stripped, healed and reassembled, paying particular attention to the originality of this model, one of the first to be built. The mechanics, the electrical, braking and suspension systems have been fully restored for a final result that is performing, compact and very pleasant to drive.
In addition to the original bonnet, the car is delivered with the "duck tail" hood that can be seen in the photographic documentation of the time. There are also period photos and completely reconstructed history as evidence of the rallying activity. The car comes with owner’s manual - with booklet pouch - and the double keys; the car is equipped with a jack and tool bag, compressor and spare wheel.
