The Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1961 was an outstanding event for Volkswagen. A second passenger car series alongside the Beetle, the Type 3 with notchback or estate body, and the ‘large’ VW Karmann Ghia, Type 34, were presented. A Karmann Ghia Cabriolet was also shown as a prototype, but it never went into series production.
Our Volkswagen Karman Ghia 1600 L (Type 34) Coupé comes from the late, greatly improved series with a 1,600 cc engine. The combination of silver and black roof with black interior is impressive. The classic car comes from a collection, is in good technical condition and ready to drive away. A little bodywork on the edges of the doors can still be done by the seller. The ‘large’ Karmann Ghia is rarely seen on the road. Enjoy the special status of this classic car.
