Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful models Rolls-Royce ever produced, the Silver Cloud represented a significant step forward from its predecessor. Its design was entirely new, while the generous proportions offered a level of space and comfort that was, quite simply, exceptional.
With a wheelbase of 5.38 metres, the standard Silver Cloud had enough room inside, so to speak, to host a small cricket match.
In 1959, the Silver Cloud II was introduced. The most significant change was found beneath the bonnet, where the straight-six engine was replaced by a considerably more powerful 6.2-litre V8. This brought not only more effortless performance, but also a higher top speed of just under 200 km/h. From personal experience, we can confirm that at those speeds the champagne glasses do begin to make themselves heard.
Our Silver Cloud II was originally delivered in the United States and has since been fully restored, with a number of thoughtful improvements made along the way. It is finished in its original Midnight Blue, complemented by a dark grey leather interior and blue carpets a wonderfully restrained combination that suits the car perfectly.
Accompanying the car is an impressive archive of history, maintenance records, certificates and other documentation, providing a remarkably complete picture of this particular Silver Cloud and its life over the years.
