Description

**Historical Background - **Heritage in England has confirmed that our older-restored MK1 model was manufactured on 1 December 1966. It was first registered in the USA on 1 July 1967. This vehicle first came to Germany in 1992 and has remained here ever since. The chassis number is G-HN3-L/108965.****The extensive vehicle history contains a large number of invoices and documents from the first German owner, Mr Jörg Kolwe, who evidently had great plans for the vehicle but was unable to realise his ideas for some reason. His fascinating photographs and handwritten notes are a true delight for every lover of classic automobiles.****In 1993, he sold the MGB to an owner who was to wonderfully change the future of this little gem – with the result you see before you today. The new owner, Dipl.-Ing. Mr Ferlesch, sold the vehicle after ten years to a good friend, who conscientiously continued its careful care and maintenance.

On the occasion of the celebrations for the MGB’s 50th anniversary in 2012, the vehicle was featured in two German classic car specialist magazines: British Classics, April 2012, and Oldtimer Markt, October 2012.

**Exterior - **The MGB is presented in the popular original colour, MGB Tartan Red. The bodywork and paintwork were fully restored in April 2004. By now, this restoration can clearly be classified as an older restoration – nevertheless, it is probably one of the best vehicles of this age that we have ever seen.****The chrome bumpers fitted at the time, together with the other chrome parts, are still in remarkably good condition today.****An aluminium bonnet was fitted in 2012. The original bonnet is also included.

Until 1969, the standard MGB wheel essentially consisted of a simple steel rim with four wheel studs and twelve oval ventilation openings, as fitted to our vehicle.

**Engine & Transmission - **The engine, numbered 18G-U-H-1144, was dated by Heritage in England to the period 1962 to early 1963.****In 2003, the engine was comprehensively overhauled, including new pistons and reconditioned or renewed crankshaft components.****However, probably the most significant technical feature is the conversion to a five-speed Ford gearbox. The high-quality conversion was supplied by Hi-Gear Engineering Ltd. of Derby, England.

This carefully engineered gearbox conversion noticeably transforms the driving experience. It offers significantly greater pulling power and improved flexibility, without compromising the characteristic driving pleasure and unmistakable personality of the MGB.

Anyone initially sceptical about such a modification is likely to be particularly impressed by the results. The difference is best experienced from behind the wheel – that is where the advantages become immediately apparent.

The vehicle is also offered with its original gearbox. This means that the new owner always has the option of returning the MGB to its original specification if required.
