Description

Sometimes more is more – Land Rover

Cool Classic Club presents: an icon with character. Not just a boxy piece of nostalgia, but a Range Rover Classic as it was meant to be — stately in your driveway, unstoppable in the mud. As if it’s on its way to afternoon tea, yet secretly about to treat every traffic law as a suggestion.

So what makes ours so special?
This isn’t just a Classic. This is chassis number 1949A, one of the very first. Fully restored by the Dutch specialist Tophat, then given a subtle (read: ridiculously enjoyable) heart transplant: the original 3.5-litre Rover V8 was replaced by an LT1 Corvette V8 with around 500 hp, paired with a Magnum 6-speed gearbox.
Sounds insane? Maybe.
Is it an outrageous amount of fun? Absolutely.

The Range Rover Classic has always been the perfect hybrid: part aristocratic family cruiser, part farm workhorse. This project takes that concept to the next (and faster) level: classic looks, modern reliability, and an engine you’d never expect beneath such a stately silhouette.
In short: a British lord secretly headbanging to heavy metal.

What’s it like to drive?
Picture this: you glide gracefully onto a country road, and everyone expects a mellow, slightly sleepy diesel cruise. One tap on the throttle, and your neighbour with his Jaguar suddenly realises his car is nothing more than a chrome-plated walker. The air suspension pins the chassis to the road like a bowling ball, the Koni shocks keep cornering under control, and the brakes rein in those 500 wild horses with authoritarian ease.

Modern features like air conditioning, ABS, power steering, remote central locking, alarm, armrests and a tow bar have all been discreetly integrated. A concours-worthy exterior, paired with daily-drivable usability — the ultimate blend of classic elegance and modern performance.

Professionally restored by Tophat — not a garage DIY project, but a serious bespoke build with unmatched attention to detail. Subtle electrical and safety upgrades are beautifully integrated without disturbing the classic lines or soul.
