In 1949, an XK120 set the famous speed record of 213 km/h (132.6 mph) on the Jabbeke highway in Belgium, establishing the model as a benchmark among sports cars of its era. In the years that followed, the XK120 achieved numerous world speed and endurance records at Montlhéry, France, while also giving rise to the legendary Jaguar dynasty that would go on to secure five overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1950s with the celebrated C-Type and D-Type.
