The Volkswagen Beetle needs no introduction. The same applies to the convertible first presented in 1948 before going into production at Karmann in 1949. The four-seater convertible is one of the most characteristic and affordable classic open-top four seaters. Our 1303 LS convertible is from a later date, 1973 to be precise, which means it is a Beetle with a larger window screen that hugs the A-pillars in slightly rounded fashion.
This 1303, in longterm single ownership, was neatly restored some 15 years ago. Since its restoration this Beetle has purely sporadically been used for pleasure and has led an easy life. Unsurprisingly therefor this convertible still looks as fresh as a daisy.
The paintwork belies the TLC afforded by its owner, having a deep lustre and an undamaged finish. The overall condition of the bodywork and detailing all point towards a caring ownership. The typically rounded wheel arches, the doors as well as the front and rear bonnets shut perfectly and align as one would expect with a convertible Beetle.
The neat interior is reflected in the pristine looking vinyl upholstery and plastic dashboard. The same is true for matters like the carpets, door cards, locks and hinges. Everywhere you look you will see evidence of good care taken.
Driving a Beetle is pure joy. In contrast to many classic convertibles there is ample space for four to soak up the outdoors on sunny days. Add to this the iconic air-cooled engine sound of the 1600cc 4-cylinder delivering its 50 hp. Everything about this Beetle is in great working order from the peak condition of its hood to the 4-speed gearbox. No doubt this car has been extremely well maintained. A car for worry free enjoyment be it on your own, romantically with the two of you or with all the family.
