The car presented here was first delivered in 1971 through Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York in Rosso Chiaro color (20-R-190) with black and red leather (VM 8500). The car remained in the same family's ownership until 1994, when it was sold to a collector in Japan. There it was shown in 1996 as part of the famous Tako Sagagawa collection at the TI Circuit in Aida. Later, the Daytona made its way back to the USA (California). In 2014, the car received a complete transmission overhaul and a restoration of the dashboard with the authentic mouse hair cover. In 2017, further cosmetic work was carried out. A Massini report on the car documents its history. The engine is matching numbers and equipment includes the beautiful contemporary Borrani chrome spoke wheels, factory air conditioning and Ansa Classic exhaust system. The 365 GTB/4 is a pleasure to drive on any outing and evokes the spirit of dolce vita and grandezza of the swanky early '70s.
The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 was presented at the 1968 Paris Motor Show as a further development of the 275 GTB/4 and was another milestone among the high-performance sports cars with front-mounted engines from Maranello. The design again came from in-house designer Pininfarina. The long hood and the flat front end - first with a Plexiglas strip, later with modern folding headlights. The V12 engine, which now has a displacement of 4.4 liters, is fed by six Weber 40 DCN/2 twin carburetors and produces around 280 hp. Ideal weight distribution ensures optimum handling. To achieve this, the engine is mounted as far back as possible and combined with a transmission mounted on the rear axle (transaxle). The interior of the 365 GTB/4 is also a step forward. It offers a good sense of space even for tall drivers, with comfortable seats and luxurious appointments - a true Gran Turismo (GT) for long journeys.
