1924 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe
Registration No: DS9474
Chassis No: GRK6
According to its accompanying copy build sheets, ‘GRK6’ was dispatched as a rolling chassis to Rolls-Royce of America Inc (Springfield, Massachusetts) in July 1924. Originally intended to carry Brougham Town Car coachwork by Brewster, a change of plans saw the 20hp fitted with the Doctor’s Coupe body which it still retains to this day.
The car has had a massive & comprehensive engine rebuild by noted specialists A & S Engineering of Alton whom are experts on small HP Rolls Royce & Bentley engines. The work was done in 2017 & minutely detailed in invoices & phtographs in the history file. Since then the car has covered less then 1000 miles having resided in the garage of an aged gentlemen whom prefers to drive his Silver Shadow.
We have just taken the car to Kenworthy & Co for a full recomissioning service to put it in tip top order ready for the next owner.
Paint is cream over blue in very good order. Interior upholstery is blue for both the front seats & dickey seat area. Being an early car it has the three speed centre change gear box. The blue mohair hood was recently replaced & is in like new condition & is very easy to raise & lower. The car drives beautifully with no play in the steering whatsoever & has clearly had much money spent on it in addition to the eye watering engine rebuild bills.
All in all a smart stylish couple in very very fine order.
