The Ferrari BB (which stands for Berlinetta Boxer) was in production between 1973 and 1984. It was the first Ferrari with a mid-mounted flat-12 engine, replacing the front engined Daytona. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti during his Pininfarina period, the car was quite a big change for Ferrari. A mid-engined road car was considered too difficult to handle for normal road use, and for that reason it took many years for the engineers to convince Enzo Ferrari to use this layout for a road car. Due to the increasing success of the mid-engined competition cars, the BB was finally ready in the early seventies. After 11 years of production, the BB/BBi was succeeded by the Testarossa.
This example was sold new in Italy by Ferrari dealer Cesarmeccanica in Salerno, and following the Italian registration the Ferrari only had 1 owner from new until 2014, when the car was purchased by a Dutch dealer specialising in exclusive Italian sports cars. The car was then given a complete overhaul, including the brakes, suspension and steering system, as well as a full inspection of the engine and gearbox. In 2015, the Ferrari was repainted in its original and extremely rare ‘Bianco’ colour. In 2016, the car was sold to a Belgian collector, who has owned it ever since. This Ferrari is in superb condition and, as the car has been driven very little over the last 10 years, a full service is recommended. We can organise this for the future owner at cost price.
The Ferrari 512 BBi is once again attracting a great deal of attention on the collectors’ market, and examples in non-standard colours are particularly sought after. This car ticks all the right boxes and is ready for a new owner.
