The 8 Series simply existed. Long, low and wide, with a body that looked more like a concept car than something you could actually order from a showroom. The pop-up headlights disappeared neatly into the nose, the roofline sat low over the cabin and those distinctive C-pillars gave the car a presence that still looks right today.

It was subsequently acquired by a Dutch collector, who was particularly drawn to the car's condition and its original cloth interior, which has survived exceptionally well for its age.
The 840Ci comes from an era when BMW still built cars with a very distinct identity. The proportions, the engineering and the restrained design all come together in a way that feels increasingly special today.
Perhaps that is exactly what makes the 840Ci so appealing now.
