This very first M3 is based on the 1986 E30 3-series. The first generation had a 2.3L BMW S14 engine with 200 hp. The main reason for the production of the M3 was to compete with the Mercedes-Benz W201. A remarkable feature of the M3 E30 is its racing heritage, not only with BMW itself, but also with racing and rally teams such as the English Prodive and the German AC Schnitzer Motorsport. Later, "Evolution" models were introduced that had a power output of 215 hp. In the final production year (1990-1991), "Sport Evolution" models were released that delivered 238 hp with a 2.5L engine. Additionally, 786 M3 convertibles were hand-built at the request of customers. This made it the fastest four-seater convertible. However, the car was not designed to race. Unlike the then-existing M5 and the subsequent M3s, the E30 M3 featured an inline four-cylinder engine. Experiments were conducted in the prototype using a 3.5-liter 24-valve inline six-cylinder engine from the M5 E28. However, due to its mass, this resulted in compromised handling. BMW felt it was easier to construct a powerful four-cylinder than a lighter six-cylinder. Ultimately, they settled on an E28 M5 engine, which was reduced to a four-cylinder and consequently had a displacement of 2302 cc. In the classic model, this produced 200 hp and 240 Nm of torque, resulting in a top speed of 235 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds.

The M3 E30 was very different from the standard 3 Series. Apart from the hood, the entire bodywork was different. It featured a more aerodynamic design and wider tires and wheels. Production of the M3 E30 ended in March 1991.

The M3 presented here is one of the BMWs delivered in France. It is a beautiful M3 that drives fantastically and looks like new. It comes with French invoices and a few German ones. Finally, there are a few Dutch papers and the booklets. A beautiful black M3 with cloth upholstery. I cannot emphasize enough how beautiful this car looks, like new. A beautiful M3 for the discerning collector.
