Description

When studying auto magazines 40 years ago one thing was certain – every journalist agreed that the Alfa Romeo GTV6 was an extraordinary car. Featuring an advanced transaxle layout with the transmission placed at the De Dion rear axle for an optimal 50/50 weight distribution and the brakes moved inwards to the differential in order to minimize the unsprung weight. Add to that the oversquare 2.5 V6 engine constructed by the legendary Giuseppe Busso (widely regarded as the best 6 cylinder engine construction of the world) with its fabulous sound – all wrapped in by an elegant body designed by the master Giugiaro. No wonder that the GTV6 came out as a favorite by the journalists, regardless of the competition.

Even today, more than 40 years after the introduction, the GTV6 offers an extraordinary driving experience. The noise level at high way speed is of course somewhat higher than a modern luxury car, but still quite relaxing, and when you push it hard into curves, the car remains utterly neutral until the tires loose their grip. The car is in a perfect balance and provide you confidence thanks to its brilliant road behavior. When a technologically advanced car also has personality and character, it’s no wonder the motor journalist in general where very enthusiastic about the GTV6.

This red beauty was originally delivered to The Netherlands (2 owners) and arrived to Denmark in 2019 with only 70,000 km on the clock, and even today it has only driven a total of 73,000 km. Driving the car today just confirms, that it is like driving the car when it was new – everything works as it should. Recently the steering rack was replaced, and together with new yellow Koni dampers combined with Eibach sport springs and high quality Michelin tires, an optimal road behavior is ensured.

The Alfa’s of that generation was often exposed for rust, especially the inner fenders and panels was vulnerable. Please note that this example is totally free from rust, there is not even a hinch. Likewise the interior is spotless with no cracks or traces of former installations of equipment. All in all, this car has been  very well maintained by its caretaking and competent owners.

To find a GTV6 in this condition is quite rare and with its classic combination of Alfa Rosso and black interior, the car is destined for a true Alfa enthusiast looking for one of the best GTV6s available.
