Let us immediately cut to the chase. This is the best Citroën ID19 Break on the market. It first hit the roads in 1966 and arrived in the Netherlands in 1987. This car has been perfectly restored. The responsibility for this lay with two Citroën experts who tackled the task with thoroughness and attention to authentic detail. Since the restoration it has travelled less than 3,000 km and only taken out in fine weather. This ID19 has only experienced rain whilst looking out of the garage window.

This treatment is clear for all to see. This ID19 is so good it almost looks like it has just been driven out of a Parisian car showroom. Externally it is in perfect shape. The bodywork is totally original with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. The brightwork, the roof mounted luggage rack, the window rubbers, the rims and exhaust are all pristine. The manner in which the brightwork is attached to the bodywork is indicative of how this car was restored. The car has kept its original finish light blue with a grey roof and rear hatch following her respray. The paint job was done very professionally.

Inside all has been reupholstered with great looking carpets and black leather adorning the seats. Anyone who has had the prior privilege of sitting in a Citroën ID19 will know what sheer delight that is. Everything has been meticulously restored. The headlining has been wonderfully reupholstered, the dashboard looks extremely alluring, all the matts were replaced and also the steering wheel was neatly reupholstered. Then there are the impeccable gauges and controls that deserve a mention.

Mechanically the car has been wonderfully cared for. Just take a look under the bonnet to be convinced. Even the spare wheel has been resprayed and shod in correctly sized Michelin tyres together with its fine jack nestled on top as it should be. The car has been shod in new tyres. Back to the engine bay where we are confronted with lovely original stickers. We also should mention this is one of only a few ID 19’s that has the old type nose and the new hydraulic system. The reason for this lays in the fact that after the summer holiday closure of 1966 Citroën started to install the new green coloured hydraulic system. According to the planning schedule this was to coincide with the arrival of the new front end. A few cars with the old nose needed to be completed so they too were given the new system, an extreme rarity thus. The DX3 2.175cc engine has the original and fully rebuilt Weber carburettor. The complete engine was overhauled to run as smooth as butter. There is a manual 4-speed transmission. The brakes and incredibly comfortable suspension both benefit from being controlled by the fully overhauled hydraulic system, guaranteeing you fantastic road manners. Whether you are on your own or away with the whole family and associated luggage, this Citroën ID19 Break is bound to give you an unforgettable journey. The Citroën ID en DS-series will never again be rivalled. The are unique cars with unique driving characteristics.

You cannot find a ID 19 in this condition. Even if you were lucky enough to lay your hands on one, you will end spending a whole lot more after restoration. This is really incredible. The quality on offer is second to none. It is great to see and drive, the best there is on the market.
