Description

The Chevrolet Camaro was General Motors' response to the highly successful Ford Mustang pony car. The first Camaro that appeared on sale in September 1966 was a 2+2 two door available with a coupe or convertible body, sharing the chassis and many other parts from the Pontiac Firebird. A wide range of engine options included six and eight cylinder derivatives, from the base model 230ci straight six to the 427ci V8 big block. With a staggering fourteen different power plants available, buyers were not short of choice when selecting their engine! The Camaro had sold well after its introduction and by 1967 was extremely popular; with revised styling the car looked meaner than the earlier models with an aggressive grille and slightly squarer body panels. The nose was restyled utilising the Rally Sport grille package, with partially see through headlight covers that rotated to reveal the headlights whilst the rear of the car used new multi-sectioned tail lights.

This particular example is really quite rare, options with the RS and SS package were giving it power steering and a powered hood and it was also specified with the now desirable manual gearbox. The car was imported into the UK in 2012 and featured on the front cover of Classic American magazine in October 2023 with a six page spread, a copy of which is included in the history file. The current owner purchased this Camaro a couple of years ago and has loved owning it but it isn't getting the use it truly deserves, hence the car now being offered for sale. The exterior was white when our vendor purchased it, the magazine article mentions how well the paint gleamed and we understand the exterior was in excellent condition. Our vendor chose to have the car wrapped black with white stripes, which has been done to a very good standard with door shuts properly done and the only real evidence of the white paintwork being in the boot area. The previous owner spent plenty of money on preventative maintenance and tidying up various areas of the car, it really does look and sound incredible and we're told it drives just as well too. It is supplied to auction with a V5C registration document and history file containing plenty of invoices detailing work carried out. Consigned by Fraser Smith
