1957 Bentley S1 Cabriolet Adaptation LHD
Chassis number: B26LEG
Registration Number: BA36444 (Denmark).
As new perfection. This Bentley S1 was converted at vast exepnse by Wildae Restorations of Devon whom were renowned for doing a top quality job in making these adaptations in the same manner as H.J. Mulliner. The quality of this car is simply stunning & one of the best I have ever seen. The car is in showroom new condition throughout with every nut & bolt having been off the car & replaced or renewed as required. All chrome work has also been removed & re-plated to better then new.
The car is finished in Royal Garnet metallic; a colour that particularly suits it. To the interior is brand new tobacco coloured leather along with matching carpets & hessian style over mats. The walnut is some of the best I have seen with really fine figuring & a mirror like polish. Of particular note is the veneer quality on the rear picnic tables & the top of the dash board roll. Under the bonnet the engine bay is a joy to behold, spotless in appearance, in similar condition to how it left the factory.
The car currently belongs to the dealer principal of Danish Rolls Royce & Bentley agents Bernt Hansens in Copenhagen so needless to say it has received impeccable servicing as required. It has done few miles since completion, being part of a small collection & occasionally goes out to shows & is used on high days & holidays in the summer only. Underneath the car is as good as it is on top: Brand new.
As may be expected the car drives as well as it looks. The 6 cylinder engine is silky smooth & silent, the gear changes imperceptible. The hood glides up & down at the touch of a button once the two latches are released. A high quality thick leather hood bag covers the roof when down.
I would have to say this is the best adaptation we have ever seen & is simply faultless & in a lovely colour scheme. Peronally I far prefer the 6 cylinder cars to the later V8 models due to the incredibly smooth engine.
