1980 Mercedes C 107 -  500 SLC Bandama-Rallye 

•Use of an original 500 SLC, the one which was homologated by Mercedes-Benz for the 1980 WRC as Group 2. •

•Recreating an accurate Recreation of the famous Rally Car. •

Original Mercedes C107 500SLC

The car was manufactured in 1980 and sold in Spain. It is not a second hand imported car without a clear origin. Original number plate was a "tourist plate". These plates were given in the 80's to Spanish citizens living abroad but driving the car in Spain, mainly on holidays. These plates are not valid today so all of them were renumbered in the 90's. My car number plate was changed in 1994. I know who the first owner was. When he passed away, his widow sold the car to the second owner. The car was bought by me in September 2016. I am the third owner.

The VIN is WDB 107026 12 002016. Only 1.154 units of the 500SLC model were manufactured between 1980 and 1981. It was the shortest production of all the R/C107 SL and SLC series. Please note the 450SLC 5.0 and the 500SLC are quite similar but not exactly the same. One of the important differences is the 4-speed automatic transmission of the 500SLC (3-speed for the 450SLC 5.0).

Technical modifications: 

The performance of the original M117 E50 (117.960) engine is fantastic (240 HP output and 41 mkg torque) so I decided not to modify the engine looking for additional power. In other words, we have protected the original engine and performed a complete maintenance since I bought the car. Some reasonable modifications were performed "around" the engine.

• original fuel pump removed and a new sport fuel pump installed. •two stainless steel exhaust silencers were installed (one for each line of cylinders). 

•. During competitions, this final silencer is easily removed and "a free pipe" is installed. The purpose is to get a fantastic racing engine noise

•Original radiator  removed, bigger one installed. •Oil cooler is the original one but was relocated horizontally instead vertically.

•New ignition transistor control unit failed and a new one was installed.

•The original Brake system is still installed since the performance is good enough. Added  Sport brake pads.

•The original wheels and tyres (14 inches) were removed and new sport ones were installed.

•Original BBS 16 inches Mahle wheels which are very similar (perhaps identical) to the ones used by the official rally car.

• Bridgestone S-02 225/50ZR16 S02JZ 92W.

•50 millimeters spacer wheels were installed in order to increase the width of the front and rear axis.

One of the most relevant (and expensive) modifications is the suspension system. The original one was removed and a complete new system has been installed. This system has been developed by an Australian company called Dkubus. The Dkubus Blackline suspension system has 32 position dampers and threaded spring seats for a high level of adjustable range no matter how low or high you might wish to set your R/C107. 

•The original automatic 4-speed gear box is still installed but it was removed and completely maintained.

•The air conditioner system and the heating system have been removed in order to reduce the weight of the car. After all modifications, the weight is very similar to the original weight (1.500 Kg).

•The safety roll bar cage is welded, not bolted. Dimensions of bars and thicknesses meet FIA requirements. This work was performed by a specialist called Toca Performance who is a welkown local rally driver.

•The seats are Recaro as the original ones. However, the seats are semi-bucket type because bucket type are not homologated on open roads.

•The safety belts are Sabelt and in blue, as in the original rally car.

•A Quaife QDF5V LSD Limited-Slip Differential was installed instead of the original one. This LSD is specifically designed for the Mercedes-Benz C107 cars. Original LSD was damaged and we decided to remove the original crown and pinion as well installing a crown and pinion with a shorter rate from another SLC (valid as per the FIA Homologation Data Sheet). The odometer works but is too optimistic due to the new crown and pinion rate.

•As in the original rally car, the European front lights were removed and the US type were installed with led lights. In addition, four additional lights have been installed on the front bumper as in the original rally car. They are original Super Oscar lights.
