A Triumph TR6 should have a deep six-cylinder soundtrack. That rich, dark note that makes you pause for a moment after starting the engine, simply to listen. Thanks to its Triumph sports exhaust, this one delivers exactly that.

The TR6 was officially introduced for the 1969 model year as the successor to the TR5 and TR250. Triumph did not have an unlimited development budget, so the company did not reinvent everything from scratch. Karmann was commissioned to redesign the exterior, and that proved to be an excellent decision.

The rounded forms of its predecessors gave way to a cleaner, more angular design. No complicated lines and no decorative details added purely for effect. Just a purposeful open sports car. Beneath that squared-off bodywork, however, remained the classic engineering that had made the earlier TR models so popular.

This particular example dates from 1971 and is finished in Jasmine Yellow with black seats. It is a light, fresh color that contrasts beautifully with the dark interior and suits the lines of the TR6 exceptionally well.

The car has undergone extensive work without losing its original character. As a result, it still feels like the TR6 you may remember. And even if you are unfamiliar with these cars, this example feels remarkably authentic.

Over the years, many components have been replaced with correct new-old-stock parts. The accompanying invoices document the work performed and provide a clear picture of the care with which the car has been maintained and improved. Servicing was also carried out by BMH-approved Triumph specialists. You notice that not only in the documentation, but especially on the road. The engine runs beautifully, the transmission and overdrive operate exactly as they should, and the car drives precisely as one would expect from a well-cared-for TR6.

The 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine is mounted at the front and paired with a manual transmission. This example is also equipped with overdrive, which provides a taller gear ratio and allows the engine to run more calmly at higher speeds. In addition, this Triumph is fitted with twin SU carburetors. They suit the car’s direct, mechanical character perfectly. The Minilite wheels complete the picture—sporty enough to give the car a more purposeful stance, yet classic enough to remain entirely in keeping with its period appearance.

A 1971 Triumph TR6 Overdrive finished in Jasmine Yellow with a black interior, equipped with twin SU carburetors, Minilite wheels, and a magnificent Triumph sports exhaust. Interested?
