Description

1937 Rolls Royce Phantom 3 Barker Landaulette.
Chassis number: 3BU174
Registration Number: DYK490
A stunning car in concours condition. This car has been the recent recipient of a concurs restoration culminating in a best in class win at the 2025 Schloss Schwetzingen concours D'Elegance in Germany.
The car was ordered new by Sir Montague Burton, founder of the Eponymous menswear stores bearing his name. The chassis was entrusted to Barker who erected the Landaulette body on it that we find today. The restoration was complete fastidious & left no stone unturned. As a result, when you drive the car you can almost imagine you are driving it away from Barkers South Audley St showrooms when it was new.
The first owner was Sir Montague Burton. Fleeing Lithuania to Leeds alone at the age of 15, he founded a men's clothing company with 400 stores and up to 10,000 employees. He used the car to visit his factories and shops. At the end of the war, he supplied the first civilian de-mob clothing of the former soldiers. This gave rise to the expression "To get the Full Monty".
The engine is fully rebuilt along with the rest of the mechanics. The car is finished in beautiful pale green over black. To the interior is new black leather to the drivers quarters & bedford cord to the rear. A pair of particularly comfortable occasional seats fold out of the bulkhead. All the burr walnut has ben removed & beautifully french polished to as when new.
Not much more need to be said of the vehicle as perfection needs but few words. The car also benefits from being a dual national with both UK & German papers meaning EEC taxes are already paid.
Viewings are by appointment north of Stuttgart.
