The Corvette C2 is steadily gaining popularity. Quite rightly so in our opinion as this granddaddy of Muscle Cars has everything a classic car should possess; beautiful lines, a powerful engine, well-known and same named predecessor and successors. No wonder then the C2 is becoming more and more valued.
This silver-grey convertible is no exception, the stylish finish is enhanced by the presence of the chrome providing a very chique picture. The open two-seater was resprayed to a high standard during the long ownership of the last keeper.
The bodywork is in wonderful condition with straight and correctly aligned panelwork. The nice sharp folds of the bodywork indicate professional restoration as well as a nice even thin paintwork.
The interior too looks just dandy and authentic. The upholstery is quite likely the original which has developed a fine patina. The seats are comfortable and undamaged. The dashboard also appears totally unrestored packed with fine instruments and an original wooden steering wheel. The wheel has a pleasant grip and has matured beautifully. The carpets, door cards and all the switching gear are in great shape. The chromed gear knob for the manual is most definitely an eye-catcher. Manual Corvettes are at a premium and are a very coveted feature. The fact the hood is in excellent shape is another pleasing bonus.
Mechanically this C2 is carefree. The 327 cubic inch V8 with 300 hp at its disposal gurgles gorgeously with free abandon. With that power and sound the Corvette C2 Sting Ray is still considered to be a pure-bred sportscar today. The gearbox shifts tightly with the clutch requiring the application of muscle to drive this muscle car as intended. The mechanics are all up to date and the car has been driven recently so there are no matters of concern due to the car having been idle for a long period.
This Corvette combines the pleasure of open-top driving with the soundtrack of an American sportscar, matching performance and a manual gearbox with a very stylish exterior and particularly fine and authentic presence.
