Hello,
how wonderful that you are interested in this rare and distinct automobile.
It is a Ford Weltkugel -Taunus from 1957 with the original registration document.
I acquired it in Austria in a desolate condition and decided immediately in August 2014 to restaurate this beauty with all of the passion that I could bring to the table.
Sure, it wasn´t easy. No, it actually was a huge challenge to get hold of replacement parts because there are alomost none left for the 1957 Ford. My guess is, it is due to the fact that there was a huge fire in 1977 at the warehouse of Ford in Cologne, Germany where Ford was producing as well in those years.
So I did rebuild all of the pieces of the body work myself by hand to within a millimetre spending lots of energy and time. Check out the more than 2100 detailed pictures of the restauration process. I add the internet link leading to them below.
After i had completely dismantled the automobile and packed each and every of the screws, I started to measure the sheet metal´s details and to brace the body work to take out the layers of sheet metal part by part (e.g. the sill). Then I manufactured all of the walls, girder, boxes out of quality steel sheet (1mm/1,5mm) and adjusted them as long as it took to have them be as the original was. Ford had a tolerance of 5mm that I was modestly allowing myself to improve.
Here in summary the parts and my work:
Newly replaced handmade parts of the body work – each sides:
-+ I sealed a cable channel into the left sill for the cable harness, the old cable harness was just on the floor panel
-+ sheet metals/ panels/ cavities were lavishly polished, grease removed and before welding painted with high quality weld priming. After the welding I even painted over with a cavity tube to make sure that every welding spot is preserved with priming.
-+ all preserved with cavity preserving wax
Through long research and ´thousands´ of emails to multiple Ford collectors and Oldtimer Sellers who still have a remaining stock I was happily able to acquire all working and other parts for this vehicle in NEW.
The complete front axle and complete back axle are equipped with new bearings and sockets.
further more:
tail glass seal NEW
cable harness handmade by myself with the correct cable diameter and fitting colouring (as good as possible- I didn´t get hold of all the colors)
The engine was checked by rebuilders. But because it was only driven for 20-30.000 kilometres nothing could be done. Crank mechanism, camshaft, bearing and more without apparent usage tracks. The automobile got a replacement engine in the past.
You are dealing here with a rare 1,5L engine. It´s the 1956-1957 model which was produced for two years only with the higher compression. You can recognize it through the 2 screws at the valve cover above instead of the 4 screws and the edge of the valve cover of the later produced 1,5L engines.
Originally there was a normal 1,2L 12m engine in there which was replaced by a 15m. I decided against the back converting of the engine because it is Original in this automobile and because the conversion was made very well.
Also the added torque brings way more driving pleasure.
If I have missed out any piece here I am still able to present it. Just have to check through the folders with including receipts and bills.
But I think you can imagine that this rare oldtimer was restored and reconstructed as newly and good as possible. I can confidently say that. :)
You are in the exciting unique position to acquire a very rare classy completely hand-restored Weltkugel-Taunus with a NEW niveau.
You usually never find a fully restored one which is for sale on the market. If you find one it is usually only half- or unrestored.
This oldtimer has a guaranteed real increase in value over the years to come if you just take a bit care of it.
If you have questions for any matter you can as well always contact me in future and I will do my best to assist you.
I guarantee transparacy of the whole restoration process with all the detail-pictures and receipts that I add here.
