Cadillac Series 70 Classic Cars for Sale

The Cadillac Series 70, which was manufactured by automaker Cadillac, is a V8 powered full-size car produced from 1930s to 1980s. The Cadillac Series 70 came as a replacement to the 355E made in 1935, which was the only mainstream car made by the company at the time. The Cadillac Series 70 had a shorter wheel base than the 72 series and was longer than the 67 series. The short wheelbase version of the Cadillac Series 70 ceased production in 1938, but was re-introduced in 1957. The 1958-58 short wheelbase Cadillac Series 70 was relatively more expensive and was an exclusive series of the 70, named the Eldorado Brougham 4-door hardtop.

History of the Cadillac Series 70

In 1936, the Cadillac Series 70 and 75 produced then came with v-shaped windshields and the radiator was made narrower compared to later models. The creatively crafted Convex Vee grill was an aspect that added uniqueness to the Cadillac Series 70 and contributed to most people loving the car since it appeared different. The 1936 Cadillac Series 70 ran a 5.7 litre Monobloc V8 engine, which produced 135 horsepower. One good thing about the engine is that it was both cheap and powerful for the Cadillac Series 70. Coupled with the sleek body, the car attracted the attention of many potential buyers, but most of them gave up due to its high price. Therefore, in the 1936 period only 5, 248 cars were sold. In 1937, the same body was retained, but changes were made to the drip mouldings. This time the mouldings ran from below the front pillar, over the doors and up to the rear quarter window.

The car also came with new fenders and bumpers, with new headlight configuration to reinforce rigidity. Later in 1941, more changes were made to the Cadillac Series 70 to have a shorter wheelbase of 3, 454 mm (136 inches), while the power of the L-head V8 engine was increased to 150 horsepower (112 kW). The hood was also slightly lowered at the front and the grille was made bigger in 1942 Cadillac Series 70. During the 1952 50-years anniversary commemoration of Cadillac, the Cadillac Series 70 was designed with gold castings on the V-shaped hood and neck. There were also touches in the grille to have chrome trim and scoop styling was added below the headlights.

The wheelbase of the Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine was 7” shorter than previous Cadillac Series 70 and the car was generally better powered.
