Description

MG's striking SV was designed by Peter Stevens, Royal College of Art Designer who had been responsible for McLaren's F1 and was based on the platform of the Qvale Mangusta. Prior to the demise of MG Rover, a team had been working on a project to return the company to the forefront of motorsport competition via sports and touring racing which included production of high-performance road cars. The X-Power SV was planned as the ultimate in the company's street legal offerings. Making its debut at the 2002 UK Motor Show the SV boasted a mouth-watering specification including a Ford 4.6 litre V8 power plant with five-speed gearbox and limited slip differential. The design's Italian-built steel box frame chassis (clothed in carbon fibre) was extremely rigid - as it needed to be in order to cope with some 320bhp on tap. The 0-60mph dash could be achieved in under 5.5 seconds whilst top speed was quoted at 165mph.

This superb one owner example in metallic black with black leather interior, has covered just 5,187 miles from new and its presentation reflects this. Only 82 were believed to have been produced between 2003 and 2005, with this being delivered in 2007 it would make it one of the last ones that was registered. We understand that Oakfields were the company entrusted with finishing off the build and the supply of orders following the demise of MG Rover. It is important to note that it has a carbon bodyshell and steel chassis with superb optional CCW wheels, contrasting cooling vents, a second lip spoiler fitted to the boot lid, stitching to the leather door cards thus making this particular car stand out from others. Delightfully supplied with the car is the original bill of sale, manuals, copies of the service book and invoices for servicing, maintenance and parts. Due to the vehicle covering low miles the servicing and maintenance is reflective of its mileage rather than time. This vehicle will be supplied with a new MoT and it also has its two sets of keys! With a 4.6 V8 Ford Mustang unit under the hood delivering supercar performance, allied to menacing looks and an extremely limited production run, it is no surprise that the MG X-Power could be the most entertaining and exclusive car we will see. It's lightweight and an absolute hoot to drive with real sports car sensations. It will attract huge attention at any venue it goes to so be warned it's not for the shy and retiring. There are some very interesting stories of how this car came about and as some differ slightly, I'd suggest that interested parties google these cars and read up on what is known. Legendary car designer, Peter Stevens, has signed the car inside the boot adding to its pedigree and giving it more cudos considering his imput in the car's design. This sports car is also ULEZ compliant which is an added bonus. Consigned by James Good.
