The model 200 was first released in 1933. It replaced the "Stuttgart" model which was based on 1920s technology. Very quickly customers asked for higher performance and a longer chassis so the model 230 was born and offered with two different wheel bases. The longer wheel base (3050 mm) became the dominant model and the short chassis was soon abandoned. The "long" model 230 kept being built until 1941.
Our Mercedes 230 saloon has an exciting story! The vehicle was delivered to Montevideo/Uruguay as a diplomat's car, hence the steering wheel on the right. The car remained in Uruguay until 1978 and has been back in Germany since 1998. The current owner purchased the limousine in 2005 and had it taken apart entirely and completely restored. A full assessment of the post restoration value and a detailed description of the repairs is available. This classic car has been back on the road since 2014.
