Description

1949 Alfa Romeo 6C Sports Pinin Farina Cabriolet.
Chassis number: 816139
Registration Number: TBA UK tax Paid.
Right Hnad Drive.
Part restored: This car was purchased with a view to restoration 9 years ago & the owner has now decided to sell rather then complete the project. The car was purchased for $US 220,000 9 years ago from the previous owner in Uraguay South America where it had resided for decades in a dry climate.
The pictures were taken 9 years ago of the car as it arrived out of the container. Currently it is part dis-assembled with the rear Axle, Engine & gear box at the renowned workshops of Jim Stokes who specializes in all things Alfa. The rear axle & gear box have beeen completed at a cost of some £40,000 & are ready to go back in the car. The asking price includes the stokes bill having been paid by the vendor. The engine still needs to be done & we would strongly suggeest using Jim Stokes to do the work. Mr Stokes has also indicated that he would be happy to finish the total restoration to concours winning standards.
The car will need paint, trim & reassembly. When complete the value will be in the region of £450,000 & will be a car that is welcomed at such events as Villa D'Este & Pebble Beach. It was actually useable driveable & rot free when disassembled.
The body is with us in Northampton where it may be inspected by prior appointment. The above mentioned mechanical bits are with Jim Stokes Workshops. This will be a simply stunning Grand Routier once complete & worthy of display in any collection. Around 8 months will be required to finish the car once retoration resumes.
