1959 | Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet

The Mercedes Ponton Cabrio, which was mostly built by hand, came onto the market in July 1956 as the 220 S Cabrio and was extremely expensive at DM 21,500. These convertibles were very elaborate and of high quality. With the reinforced floor pan, the convertibles were around 100 kg heavier than the luxurious Mercedes 220 ponton sedans, despite their shorter wheelbase.

This elegant Mercedes 220 S Cabrio was ordered in 1958 and delivered to Los Angeles/USA as a 1959 model year. The car was extensively restored in the USA around the turn of the millennium. The noble convertible performed in Sweden from 2004 and returned to Germany in 2012. Since then it has been in the hands of a collector, was always registered with a historical seasonal license plate and was regularly (but only rarely) carried out in good weather. Numerous coverings explain the good condition and prove that care was taken about this handcrafted Mercedes classic.

This 220 S Cabrio offers sublime driving pleasure for the whole family and is still in a very beautiful condition, both visually and technically.
