Description
The BMW 502 made history as the first German post-war automobile with an 8-cylinder engine. Its characteristics were conservative chassis, modern technology, and expensive. Only approx. 13,000 of these vehicles were sold. The model was a brand win for BMW but not an economic success. The beautiful convertibles were built by Baur in Stuttgart/Germany and Autenrieth in Darmstadt/Germany. According to the BMW archive, only 11 4-door convertibles were built. And apparently only 3 or 4 cars with the strong V-8 engine were delivered.
Our BMW 502 F Convertible by Baur was registered on May 27th, 1955 for Ernst Matthiensen in Frankfurt/Germany. He was a board member at Dresdner Bank and contributed significantly to the resurgence of German banking. The Convertible has been with its current owner since 1998. Before that the rare classic was restored by a German specialty shop. Registered in Germany, this extremely rare oldtimer is ready for a big outing with space and luxury!
