BMW’s large limousine, the 501, was somewhat underpowered with its established six-cylinder engine and its 53 kW/72 hp. From 1954 onwards, the 502 – living up to the reputation of Bayerische Motorwerke – featured a completely new V8 engine. This masterpiece, constructed entirely from aluminium, initially had a 2.6-litre displacement and produced 74 kW/100 hp. A variant with a 3.2-litre displacement was later introduced to the market.
Our BMW 502 limousine, popularly known as the ‘Baroque Angel’, has been partially restored. The mechanical components have been overhauled and the paintwork has been renewed in the correct BMW colour of black. The interior, featuring the now rare beige fabric upholstery, has been retained. For many years, this classic car served as the touring limousine of a BMW enthusiast. It has held a FIVA Identity Card since 1995. It is currently off the road, but was registered in Germany for many years. This classic BMW requires servicing and a new MOT. This will be done upon sale.
