About the vehicle:
The Isetta presented here is a 250cc machine from 1960, which has been in the seller's possession since June 1989. Since 1989, the BMW Isetta has been completely disassembled and restored (frame-off) in the owner's spare time. In this context, it received, among other things, a spray galvanisation of the underbody, as well as a new paint structure. After completion of the full restoration in August 2008, the owner took part in the Isetta world record in Coburg with the 250cc motocoupé. The extensive full restoration, which retained almost all of the original parts, was honoured by DEKRA in 2014 with a condition rating of 1-. Since then, the Isetta has travelled 2,853 km. Furthermore, the Isetta was awarded a prize in the 2011 "Stuttgart sucht das Superauto" ("Stuttgart is looking for the supercar") competition and featured in a major article in Auto Motor und Sport issue 26.2011 on pages 138/139.
Until August 2008, the Isetta was extensively overhauled in its individual parts in the owner's spare time over a period of about 20 years. All wear parts, such as the clutch and the steering chain, were completely replaced. Specific specialist work such as paint removal and repainting was carried out by specialist companies. The vehicle was completely dismantled after the purchase in 1989 and rebuilt to perfection, retaining almost all original parts. Almost all work is documented with invoices. A comprehensive documentation from the state of discovery, the disassembly and the individual processing up to the completion can be found in our gallery. Following the restoration work up to 2008, a new sliding shaft with high-quality rubber joints from a German manufacturer was installed. In addition, the battery and tyres were replaced with a new Moll Kamina 44 Ah Start and Falken Sincera in September 2021, and the valves were readjusted and an oil change carried out. Please also visit our blog to read the seller's experience report on his Isetta. This also specifically discusses the restoration.
The 250 Isetta can be seen at stand 202 in hall 9 at Classic Expo Salzburg 2021.
