This wonderfully patinated 1900CSS benefits from a just completed full mechanical overhaul costing in excess of £15,000.00.
Alfa Romeo Automobilisimo Storico, has confirmed chassis number AR1900C10274 was manufactured on 12th November 1956 and sold on the 17th November in Cremona, Italy.
Having spent nearly forty years in Italy #10274 was registered as 188055 FC and owned by Walter Savani who resided in Forlì, he also owned a 6C2500 Sport, a very nice two car garage!. Savani sold his 1900CSS to Stephen Hunter of Kent who imported and registered the car as RFO 591 here in the UK. In 1996 the car passed to Jean Rondeau who must have had a passion for Carrozzeria Touring cars as two years prior to this he purchased a 2600 Touring Spider for his wife which we owned and supplied to a discerning collector a couple of years ago.
After a couple of subsequent owners and light period competition use #10274 was purchased by the last keeper in February 1996 and prepared for reliability and regularity rallying using the best of breed Alfa Romeo specialist engineers at the time. Over the next twenty-five years this 1900 has enjoyed a high level of maintenance throughout with a total spend exceeding £45,000.00 including circa £15,000.00 in December 2020 for a full engine rebuild and preparation by Mass Racing Limited in Bedfordshire, culminating in a rolling road set up achieving 117.6bhp at 5,500rpm, so this 1900 is in good health and ready to go.
This motor car is highly eligible for nearly all historic rallies and events including the Mille Miglia in which it previously ran and completed in 2011 followed by four finishes in the Gran Premio Nuvolari and other events in between, so this vehicle could be your ticket to major events as they open again around the world. Well prepared and rally patinated this 1900 will allow you to enjoy spirited adventures.
