The Volvo 850 is also known for the special rumbling sound of the five-cylinder petrol engine, which has earned it the nickname Roffel among enthusiasts. The five-cylinder comes from the T-5, but adjusted engine management and increased turbo pressure resulted in 15 hp and 30 Nm more. That means 240 hp and 330 Nm, but that increase in power is only available during a thirty-second overboost.
The Volvo 850 is one of the most beloved Volvos of all time. Practical, square, rock-solid and, if desired, with a wonderful five-cylinder on board. The modified bumper, side skirts and spoiler of the T-5R were not only chosen from an aesthetic point of view.
