1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 Thrupp & Maberly Sedanca.
Chassis number: GLZ47
Registration number: ALL700
Just having emerged from a stem to stern restoration to the highest standards; this car was awarded 99 out of possible 100 points by Rolls Royce Enthusiast Club Judges at the RREC concours. The one point being deducted for the two tone paint continuing inside the door shuts where the judges felt it ought to be all black. This car is as close to how they left the factory as any we have had.
The restoration was a meticulous affair taking several years. with the body being entirely removed from the Chassis whilst it was being rebuilt. There is a photographic record of the various steps taken & the build up of the car. Efforts were made to do it detail perfect with correct cotton covered cables being sourced in the appropriate colours & installed with Ross Courney crown wire ends.
Coachwork is a particularly elegant effort by Messers Thrupp & Maberly. taking the form of a sedanca de-ville with division. A swage line loops up over the boot round the rear quarters & then along the roof line to the sedanca front. A smokers hatch in the roof affords light to the cabin giving is a spacious feel & affording fresh air to the rear occupants. The spare wheel is rear mounted & sits within its own case.
The interior is finished in Burgundy leather all in as new condition. The interior woodwork has been beautifully refinished with just the right dull sheen to match the original finish. High quality Wilton carpets are fitted throughout. To the boot lid is a full tool kit. missing one spanner during our visit as it was in the owners house!
The exterior paint is maroon & black with over £30K being spent on it alone.
I am not going to waffle on any further about the condition of this car as perfection needs few words. Simply put you have to see it to believe it. It won its class at The Rolls Royce National & was runner up in the masters. High Praise indeed for those looking for the best of the best.
