Description
This Mercedes Benz 300 S coupe of the W188 series is one of 216 produced. In an elegant dark blue paint and gray leather, this 300 is a rather inconspicuous rarity. The burl wood elements stand out very nicely against the gray leather and give the interior a very high-end charm.
Coming from a very significant collection, the coupe was last conserved in 2013. Paint measurements revealed an even paint density.
As part of a first-class restoration, the coupe was completely disassembled and rebuilt. The original transmission and engine were retained. Photographic documentation of this restoration is available.
This Mercedes Benz 300 S Coupé is licensed for world class rallies and can be made road ready at any time. Due to the low number of pieces, the elegant discreet color combination and the very good condition, this Mercedes is a real rarity from Mercedes Benz.

History of the series
The Mercedes W 188 series was presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in October 1951. The coupés, cabriolets and roadsters were derived from the sedan of the W 186 series and had a wheelbase that was 15 cm shorter than it. They were the last Daimler-Benz models to be built on a chassis.
With a total of 560 examples of the 300 S and 200 of the 300 Sc, the W 188 series is rarer than the 300 SL (W 198). Not for nothing was the W 188 the most expensive model series of Mercedes over the entire construction period.
In 1955, the model series was revised and renamed the 300 Sc. Both versions, the 300 S and the 300 Sc, are among the most exclusive Mercedes-Benz passenger car models of the post-war period and today, along with the 300 SL, are particularly sought-after collectors' vehicles.
