These C2 Corvettes (2nd generation) were built from 1963 to 1967.
The 1st series had been built since 1953. The Stingray is the stingray with a venomous spur. It was conceived and designed under the direction of Bill Mitchell's styling at General Motors.
The Corvette logo is made of 2 flags, the 1st one includes the fleur de Lys (royal symbol, but also of purity and loyalty) and the cross of the Swiss flag, country from which Louis Chevrolet came. The 2nd is the checkered flag (the American flag originally having been banned from use for commercial purposes).
The model we present to you, comes from St Louis in Missouri - USA, has remained since the origin in the same family for 51 years. Arrived in France in 2014, it has known 2 owners. We know it well because it is one of the first cars we had on our first Parisian show in 2015, freshly arrived from Le Havre. It is equipped with the 5L4 (327ci) V8 engine of 340 horsepower, which was manufactured in 6978 copies in 1963 out of a total of 117,964 built in 5 years all types combined.
The car is Matching Numbers (engine, gearbox, color) and is presented for sale in exceptional condition.
The bodywork has been restored in the US and is of high quality. The paint is superb and there are no major defects. The windows are tinted as well as the windshield, the whole is in good condition. The Knock Off aluminum wheels are in excellent condition as well as the white sidewall tires. The 5.4L V8 engine runs well, does not consume oil and does not heat up. A major mechanical overhaul was performed in June 2019 with the replacement of the gear selector seal as well as the change of the gearbox support with gearbox and engine draining.
The braking system has been revised the same year with replacement of the master cylinder after having made a rectification of the front drums. The suspensions have been revised with change of the rear shock absorbers, replacement of the rear camber tie rod, replacement of the rear axle silenblocks and replacement of the rear axle crossbars.
In addition to that, small but important interventions such as the starter relay, the central blinker, the locking of the doors, the alignment of the front bumpers, the alignment of the exhausts, the fixing of the seats, the adjustment of the headlights and the wipers.
The car arrived by road from its current owner who admits to having driven it very little in the last three years, having taken care to put a small cardboard box under the heel of his shoe to avoid damaging the carpet. This can attest to the quality of maintenance and follow-up of the Corvette Stingray C2.
The Corvette starts right up and its ride height is just right, not too high in the front and not too low in the back. It is stable on the road, its power steering makes it smooth to drive, its gearbox is precise as well as its braking. The line of this car is fabulous and in this very rare livery with its unique leather interior makes it one of the most beautiful C2 we have to offer for sale.
