1924 | Buick Series 24-Four
Description
In good all round working condition. This 99 year old car runs and moves forward through three forward gears and backwards through reverse. Brakes are rear wheel only as original and work as designed. Pedals are aligned to early motoring with the footbrake on the right hand side. An additional left hand pedal operates the starter gear.
The engine number 892658 appears to be an original 1923 4 cylinder in working order. With a prime of the fuel pump, she fires up on choke immediately. The advance/retard should then be controlled when warm as normal. The water system is plumbed in but has leaks through the water pump which can be attended to by a new owner. The top end was checked and head ground with valves ground in and new gasket. The bottom end may need crankshaft or shells attention shortly if the car is to be driven.
The fuel system operates through an electric pump which bypasses the original vacuum system, but which is still in place for effect.
With the original wooden spoke wheels, running boards, original door handles, dashboard gauges and switches , semaphore radiator heat gauge etc etc this car emits an immense amount of charm and can be used for on site weddings and photography.
A beautiful looking example in cream and brown livery on a green timber chassis number 66706. The retractable hood is in full working order in black. The upholstery is in a green vinyl and in good condition with black floor mats. The vehicle was previously registered in Spain and was exported to the UK in 2014 where it is currently awaiting a new registration document. The necessary paperwork is with the seller and enables the car to be moved to any other country of the buyers choice. We do not have an enormous amount of history other than the car was in Spain in 1986 and owned from then or possibly before then and up to 2014 by a Snr Miguel Burgos who was renowned for his car collection in the north of Spain near Pamplona. During that time, the Buick was road tested and registered under documentation from the Gobierno de Navarra in 2002/2003 when the car was taken to shows by its then owner. We have some documentation from the ITV system in Spain at that time. Clearly this was a cherished car and it would appear that works and general care was expended during those days. The car was then bought within that whole collection by the current owner and was on visual display near Goodwood until now. The collection is being reduced now and space is a current issue. Therefore it was decided to lightly recommission the car to prepare for sale and to a new owner that can cherish and keep the car in it next life which will take it to its 100th birthday on the 28th February 2023.
