Between 1956 and 1957, 136 units of the Series I Coupe were produced.BMW launched the Type 503 at the IAA in 1955 as an elegant touring car and a more comfortable counterpart to the 507. With a price of almost DM 30000,00 the car was more expensive than the 507 and therefore only affordable for the well-heeled customer. As with the 507 the coachwork was created by the industrial Albrecht Graf Goertz. The aluminum body was manufactured bei Baur. With only 136 units the BMW 503 of the first series is one of the rarest series BMWs ever. This BMW is the number 13 of the first series. The vehicle was extensively restored several years ago. This coupe is probably the only one with a Japanese red paint scheme and a cream-coloured roof.As the most expensive BMW of its time it embodies the attitude of life and the special way of travelling of its epoch like hardly another vehicle.
