Descrizione

History

The Chevrolet El Camino is a coupe utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959-1960 and 1964-1987. Unlike a standard pickup truck, the El Camino was adapted from the standard Chevrolet two-door station wagon platform and incorporated the cab and bed into the body. Introduced in the 1959 model year in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero coupe utility, its first run, based on the B-body of the Biscayne, lasted only two years. Production resumed for the 1964-1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform, and continued for the 1978-1987 model years based on the GM G-body platform. Although based on the corresponding General Motors car lines, the vehicle is classified in the United States as a pickup.

Chevrolet introduced a longer El Camino in 1968, based on the Chevelle station wagon/four-door sedan wheelbase (2,946 mm), overall length: 5,283 mm; it also shared the exterior and interior trim of the Chevelle Malibu. The interior was redesigned, including cloth and vinyl or all-vinyl bench seats and deep carpeting.

Power front disc brakes were optional. A three-speed manual transmission was standard with all engines, and a four-speed or automatic was optional. In 1968, the SS was a separate model (the "SS-396"). The 1969 models showed only minor changes, led by a more rounded front end. A single chrome bar connected the quad headlights and a slotted bumper held the parking lights. New round instrument pods replaced the old linear layout. For the first time, the Chevrolet 350 V8 was used in an El Camino. Options included power windows and locks. Curiously, the reverse lights moved from the rear bumper to the tailgate, where they were ineffective when the door was lowered.

The '69 model is for us the nicest and most sought after.

Description

This CHEVROLET EL CAMINO is an executive vehicle that we decided to put up for sale after more than 2500 kilometers this summer.It has had many maintenance, upgrades and has a clear history. It has had 6 owners and was imported in April 1997 after having had 2 owners in the United States. We have a file with all original invoices and owner's manuals.

Exterior
The bodywork has been repainted in a matte black color after having received an important restoration on the front underbody and the bodywork in general; a photo file is provided. Thus, we present a very healthy El Camino that has nice door alignments, everything is in line. The interior compartment of the body has been painted in glossy black after having been completely disassembled, which gives a beautiful rendering, and a body like new.

All the front part of the dashboard and the dashboard has been treated as well as the interior of the underbody. The front fenders have been dismantled and treated as well as the whole front face. The old paint was scraped off completely from a bare body, and prepared to receive primer and new paint. A great job!

Interior
The manufacturer's data confirms that the car had the red vinyl interior with a full bench seat when it left the factory, which is still the case. The interior is in excellent condition, from the door panel to the ceiling light and the carpet, everything is spotless and shows a well cared car. We have equipped the CHEVROLET with a nice RETROSOUND sound system with discreet speakers to brighten up the road. Everything is functional on the dashboard, the car is in miles, the gear lever is on the steering wheel.

Mechanics
In order to prepare for a pleasant road trip this summer, we have done everything necessary to make this El Camino reliable for long trips, even on the highway. The fuel tank was changed as well as the exhausts with a special feature that gives it a good sound while being slightly audible in the cabin.

The alternator has been changed, the ignition revised, the fuel supply also changed and all the brakes have been redone, which should reassure the future buyer. The engine is in very good shape and had been restored in 2012 as well as the gearbox.

Many maintenance invoices are present in the file that will be given to the new buyer.

The car drives perfectly, no vibration at the wheel, the accelerations are frank, the sound is bewitching and the driving soft! The braking is efficient and the road handling is safe.

Externally, the car is magnificent in its matte black livery and its red interior. The car is matching numbers which does not spoil the pleasure and will have a French collector's license.

Our opinion. We are often asked for a pick up ! This one is complete and ready to drive ! Do not hesitate any more !

NB: The motorcycle mounting system in the tipper is not for sale with the car.
