Descripción

Introduced in 1968 the BMW 2002 followed on from the European touring car success of the 60s with the 1602. The 2002 was put into production after BMW decided to introduce a larger displacement engine which was able to generate more power and performance in an attempt to become the market leader in punchy 4-seater usable coupés. Although the 2002 was initially fitted with carburettors, though the ‘Tii’ variant was launched in 1970 with BMW’s injection system and able to produce 128hp, up 28hp on the standard 2002, which was the most powerful car in its class at time of launch. 

We purchased the BMW 2002 Tii from a long-time customer of Neil’s (pre-Hairpin) and sold it to its last custodian in 2005. Both of these last owners have a common desire to own only the best examples and hence the 2002 has had much care lavished upon it this century as continued through the last owner’s tenure. It now presents as an extremely good example of a UK supplied BMW 2002 tii Lux model.

Finished in its original colours of Polaris Silver over blue velour this example has since been fitted with an original 2002 Turbo steering wheel as well as a set of extremely coveted original Alpina wheels. A very useable classic that drives superbly and can more than hold its own compared to more modern machinery. These do seem extremely good value when compared to other classics at the moment.
