The KB1 is a model produced in partnership with Bimota between 1976 and 1982, of which only 827 units were made. The name followed the manufacturer's standard nomenclature, indicating that this is chronologically the first model equipped with a Kawasaki engine. The bikes sporty lines and the in-line four Kawasaki engine which had already enjoyed success in the Z1 900 and Z 1000 immediately met with positive responses from the public and critics. The frame was a perimeter trellis model made from chromoly tubes and the bodywork was fibreglass, while the rear suspension consisted of a tubular swingarm with adjustable monoshock.
