This beautiful example of English car engineering belonged to a Rover Dealership that had the bodywork restored about 12 years ago and then motted it. “Black Tulip” – the official paint colour – has now been lovingly awoken out of it’s “Sleeping Beauty” sleep.
After overhauling and tuning the twin SU carburettors and replacement of all consumable materials and fluids with the best available, the engine is running extremely well, with an estimated 160 BHP and has very good compression values.
The whole brake system has been renewed by the expert of the Rover Friends Germany for the P6 and over 40 years contractual Rover workshop, with his personal precision turned callipers and matching cylinders which he says will last even longer than the originals, racing brake-pads and all old tubing.
The only restoration stage that still has to be done are where the seams of the very soft lappa leather seats have opened.
The paintwork has been professionally redone on the bonnet and RHS where small damages had occurred with the years in storage.
The most amazing part and probably because of the storage, is the rarity with which there is no rust anywhere and even the experienced Rover expert was amazed at how good the car looks from underneath.
An original LHD for the European market, this vehicle was first registered in Switzerland.
It has the very strict official German assessment as an historical vehicle which is also entered in the registration papers, along with the German roadworthy with which they checked the condition and originality of the status of a historical vehicle on 9 December 2019, being valid until December 2021.
Please note that with the start of each section of the restoration, i.e. only the seats now, the price is raised accordingly.
On the other hand we can talk a bit about the price, as all whi deal with me enjoy:
- a good deal is when all are satisfied and a very good one is when all are happy!
- Which means relaxed, with discretion, respect, sympathy and honesty - must come from his father who was a Chef Superintendent of the Irish Garda ;-)
- I am also fluent in German after living here for 33 years.
Notwithstanding his passion in finding and saving old rare beautiful examples of vehicle engineering, people still remain the most important.

Also the crash on the stock exchange means that these monies have been retracted and sooner or later must be invested and in these times that will be in material things like property, gold, old-timers…
