The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 2 Drop Head Coupé (DHC) is perhaps one of the most beautiful open Rolls-Royces ever built. This example was built in 1961. It is an E-Chassis that was sent to Mulliner. Mulliner was commissioned to provide the car with a body according to design number 7504, according to experts the most attractive option. In total, this design was chosen only 84 times. All 84 cars were left-hand drive and/or export cars. The car has only had two owners who have always cherished the car. As a result, the car is still in very good condition and is to die for. Both optically and technically. The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud convertible is of course without a doubt a car that fits perfectly with the extravagant life in Hollywood. It will therefore not surprise you that the car was delivered new to the first owner in Hollywood. The second owner also lived in the United States, but then lived in New York. However, that is not where she had her car, the car was at her vacation home in the warm state of Florida. As befits a real Rolls-Royce, the Silver Cloud has been able to have a luxurious life. The first owner owned the car from 1961 to 1968. The second owner even up to 2019. We can therefore speak of long-term ownership here.
The appearance of the car has recently been addressed. The car was repainted, got a few new headlights, a new hood and more was really not necessary to bring the car back to top condition. The bodywork looks beautiful and is equipped with beautiful thin sheet metal, correct fits and beautiful chrome. The recently renewed convertible top is of course easy to operate and looks beautiful. The car is on the original wheels fitted with good tires in the correct sizes. The Mulliner bodywork is fortunately still manageable. The quality really stands out and if we look at the shapes of the car, it makes you think that at the time no longer opted for this extremely beautiful design.
The interior is of the same cloth. The car has an extremely beautiful color combination. The inside of the Rolls-Royce is equipped with beautiful beige leather that has also been recently renewed. The work was carried out with a great sense of originality and the result is brilliant. The wood on the dashboard is also beautiful to look at thanks to recent restoration work. The instruments and controls are of course immaculately cared for and also look to be tampered with, just as they should be on a top-class car.
The Rolls-Royce is powered by a 90 degree pushrod V8. The engine is of course fully focused on propelling this great stately British classic as elegantly as possible. The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that makes driving the Silver Cloud a joy. The technology is perfectly taken care of. The brakes can be dosed well and the chassis is also perfectly adjusted to smooth out as many imperfections as possible. The technique has always been well maintained, just like the rest of the car.
Finally, the Silver Cloud is beautifully documented, there are old appraisal reports that read like a boy's book, photos of the Rolls-Royce in the United States and invoices of the maintenance performed there. In short, not only a beautiful Rolls-Royce to see, but also a pleasure to go out with. A rare opportunity to buy a Silver Cloud DHC from a series of only 84 pieces.
