1936 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca de Ville by Gurney Nutting.
Chassis number: 3AX109
Registration Number: DXE782
A Beautifully restored Phantom 3 which represnts the Last word in Opulence & elegance. Extensive works were done to it to put it into the wonderful condition we find it in today. The engine in particular is a paragon of unruffled silence simply wafting the car down the road & running cool at all times.
Coach work is by noted builder J Gurney Nutting & takes the form of a spacious & Capacious sedanca De ville. The car is finished iin Old English White with beige wings & wheel spats, a scheme which really suits the car. To the interior is cognac hide throughout & re-finished highly figured burr walnut. The car has occasional seats making this a full seven seat conveyance should one have need to do so.
Under the bonnet the engine is detailed to show standards. Pleasingly a complete set of both large & small tools come with the car in thier appointed places.
An original Jack Barclay sales invoice comes with the car & the Rolls Royce Chassis records show the car to have been built for The Most Noble, The Marquess Of Queensbury. He kept the car for 5 years before trading it in during 1940 to Jack Barclay where it was purchased by a Mr Donaldson of Liverpool who part exchanged his mercedes 500K Cabriolet, such a car not being particularly "In Vogue" given that it was 1940. Donaldson was clearly able to source petrol during the war as the car was fitted with blackout equipent to the lights.
Indicated mileage is 60,000 which I would believe to be correct given the absence of wear to the control pedals & the taut tight feel of the driving experience. The authoratative Book "The forgotten Engine" by Steven Bodddice detailing the Correct Rebuild & Maintenance proceedures for the V12 motor comes with the car as does the original Rolls Royce Manual.
Thhe car has in recent years formed part of a small collection & has been very sparingly used by thhe last owner for high days & holidays.
