Description

The Lancia Fulvia is an Italian car introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 and was produced all the way through to 1976. Fulvia's are notable for their role in motor racing history, including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972. On testing it in 1967, Road and Track summed up the Fulvia as 'a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force'. The general engineering design of the Fulvia was identical to that of the Flavia with the major exception of the engine, the Flavia having a four cylinder horizontally opposed engine and the Fulvia a 'Narrow Angle' vee configuration as featured on most production Lancia's from the Lambda. With the introduction of the second series in 1970, the brakes were uprated with larger Girling calipers all round and a brake servo. The handbrake design was also changed - using separate drums and brake-shoes operating on the rear wheels. Various sports and 'fast touring' Lancia's have had bodies built or designed by the great Italian design house Zagato.

The vendor acquired this rare right hand drive Zagato-bodied Fulvia from us last year and is only selling it as he has started another project. The previous owner had the car for some 20 years and had completed a large amount of restoration works in that time including taking the car back to its shell. The mechanics and the bodywork where stripped and restored and the body repainted in the superb 'Lord Blue' coachwork you see today. The interior was also completely restored and looks superb. The vendor then went and took matters further sparing no expense (spending £18,000) completely overhauling the car's mechanicals including a £4,000 complete overhaul of the braking system. The work has been carried out by well renowned restorer, Radford Restorations in Windsor. Offered with a sizeable history file including sundry bills and invoices relating to both owner's restorations, photos of the car, various MoT test certificates and its current V5 registration document. This is a very rare car indeed, offered in excellent order throughout having been treated to a 'no expense spared' restoration and with a reserve far short of the total expenditure. Consigned by Will Penrose.
