Description

The Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider stands as a timeless symbol of Italian automotive elegance and engineering. Produced from 1962 to 1968, the 2600 series replaced the 2000 line, serving as the brand's flagship offering during the era. Designed by the legendary coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring, the Spider variant was a two-door convertible that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of 1960s motoring, freedom, style, and performance. Under the bonnet, the 2600 Spider featured a robust 2.6 litre inline-six engine, equipped with dual overhead camshafts, a hallmark of Alfa Romeo's engineering prowess. Producing around 145hp, this engine offered smooth acceleration and a top speed of approximately 120mph. Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the car delivered an engaging and refined driving experience, making it a favourite among enthusiasts who valued both performance and sophistication. The exterior design of the 2600 Spider is nothing short of breathtaking. With its flowing lines, elongated bonnet, and distinctive grille flanked by dual headlights, the car exudes an understated elegance. The convertible top adds to its allure, offering drivers the opportunity to experience open-air motoring at its finest. Inside, the cabin featured luxurious materials, including leather upholstery and chrome accents, emphasising comfort and attention to detail. Though it was not produced in large numbers, this exclusivity only adds to its desirability among collectors today. The model is often celebrated for bridging the gap between Alfa Romeo's traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering, solidifying its place in automotive history.

Originally registered on 16th July 1964, this 2600 Spider presents beautifully having been restored to a very high standard. Of the 2,255 cars manufactured only 102 were made in right hand drive, this example is number 82 out of the 102. The bodywork has been taken care of, and the red paintwork is of a particularly high quality and photographic evidence is available to confirm the attention to detail. The black leather has been retrimmed, again to a very high standard and the soft top is also new. The correct number engine has been fully rebuilt by Bob Dove Motorsports, covering less than 200 miles since the rebuild and as such will need to be treated gently during the bedding in period. The carburettors have been rebuilt by Exeter Engineering. The result of this comprehensive list of work is an Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider that is ready to be enjoyed immediately. The Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider remains a quintessential classic, combining exquisite design with a refined driving experience that continues to captivate automotive enthusiasts worldwide.
