The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 represents the final evolution of the G Series, combining the traditional air cooled 911 character with the refinements introduced over two decades of development. Its 3.2 litre flat six retained the distinctive sound and response of the classic 911, while electronic engine management made this a more refined and usable generation. The later examples equipped with the G50 five speed manual gearbox are particularly appreciated for their improved shift operation and hydraulically operated clutch. The Targa adds another dimension to that experience. Its removable roof, fixed safety bar and curved rear window give it a distinctive place within the 911 range, offering open air driving while preserving the familiar roofline with the panel fitted. It is a configuration that suits the Carrera 3.2 particularly well, both visually and in use.
Delivered new in Florida, this Carrera 3.2 Targa brings together a particularly desirable specification: a matching numbers engine and G50 gearbox, Guards Red paintwork and a documented factory spoiler package. Guards Red works beautifully with the black Targa bar and 16 inch Fuchs wheels, while the front and rear spoilers give it the sporting profile so closely associated with this era of the 911. Both spoilers were specified from the factory and are explicitly recorded on the accompanying Porsche certificate, which also confirms Guards Red as the original exterior colour. The black leather interior with electrically adjustable sports seats completes a classic Porsche combination with plenty for the enthusiast to appreciate.
Its history takes it from Florida to Venezuela and eventually Belgium, where it has remained with the same owner since 2017. Particularly pleasing is the carefully preserved history folder, bringing together old photographs, registration documents and correspondence that tell the story of the car’s earlier life. It is a lovely collection to discover alongside the Porsche and reflects the care taken to preserve its history. The odometer currently displays 48,280 miles, equivalent to approximately 77,700 kilometres.
We know this Porsche well through our own workshop and can confidently say it is a very good example, in good mechanical condition and ready to be driven. Its owner has regularly enjoyed the car and invested in keeping it properly maintained, including more than €7,000 of work in our workshop. This is a well sorted Carrera that feels right and is a pleasure to drive!
The bodywork is in very good condition, with a full repaint in its original Guards Red. The renewed Targa roof remains in excellent, as new condition, and the beautifully refinished Fuchs wheels complete a very well cared for presentation. A Prototipo sports steering wheel is currently fitted, with the original steering wheel supplied with the car. The cabin also features a modern Kenwood radio. The factory sticker remains beneath the front luggage compartment lid, and the Porsche tyre compressor is present.
This is an appealing example of the later Carrera 3.2 Targa, with the desirable G50 transmission, matching numbers drivetrain and documented factory spoilers. Its original exterior colour, long term Belgian ownership and substantial maintenance carried out in our own workshop give it a strong combination of specification, presentation and mechanical condition.
