The upper mid-range segment has always been the domain of Daimler-Benz. With the Type 220 (W 187), the company made its return after the war to this demanding market in 1951. The completely newly designed six-cylinder engine with an overhead camshaft was later further developed and remained in use until the 1970s.
Our Mercedes-Benz 220 Convertible A dates from the final year of production, 1955. Only those few convertibles from this model year feature a curved windscreen. Since 1987, this classic car – largely handcrafted – has been with its forth owner and registered in Germany. There are numerous service invoices from recent years. The carburettor and gearbox were overhauled in 2018 and 2021 respectively. The convertible currently has four new tyres. This classic, in beige paintwork and featuring its magnificent original leather interior, has real charisma.
