Born from the same bloodline as his legendary competition cars, Enzo Ferrari created the Ferrari 212 Inter as a true race-bred machine refined for the road a grand tourer with genuine competition pedigree.
Successor to the 166 Inter and closely related to the 212 Export, the Inter combined Ferrari’s advanced engineering with greater comfort and usability. Its longer 2,600mm wheelbase compared to the Export’s 2,250mm chassis allowed for more spacious, elegant coachwork without compromising performance. Beneath the body sat a twin oval-tube frame, independent front suspension, drum brakes, and Ferrari’s potent V12 engine.
Each 212 Inter was individually commissioned, making every example unique. Bodied by renowned coachbuilders including Vignale, Touring, Abbot and Ghia with even a special Pinin Farina Cabriolet no two cars were ever the same.
This example on offer here is a 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Export, Coachwork by Ghia of Turin, lungo. One of 19 alloy bodied 212’s. With a 2.6l engine (non-matching) and three carburettor set up. It also has a rare original bonnet scoop air intake.
It is the first Ferrari ever delivered to the Netherlands. It was imported in 1952 by the first importer of Ferrari’s in the Netherlands, S. Maasland, a was sold to its first owner Eddy Hertzberger. He is the first Dutch Grand Prix winner in 1936, prior to Carel de Godin de Beaufort winning the Grand Prix of Spa in 1959. He raced this car in a 1954 Zandvoort GT race.
