The 1978 Chevrolet GMC Stepside Pick-up is a classic American truck known for its rugged styling and timeless appeal. Featuring distinctive stepside rear fenders, a strong V8 engine, and traditional chrome detailing, it combines practicality with vintage character. This 1978 Custom Deluxe presents in a real head-turning specification and is sure to draw a crowd wherever it goes. Finished in deep gloss black with extensive chrome detailing, this is the desirable short-wheelbase Stepside model. The truck sits on polished 8-hole aluminium wheels with wide tyres and features the classic Stepside rear bumpers with side steps. The bed has been fitted with polished hardwood stake sides and a centrally mounted spare wheel. Tinted glass with window deflectors. The overall condition presents as very smart with a deep shine.
This GMC is badged as Custom Deluxe 10 on the front fenders. It is the interior where the truck really stands out. This Chevrolet has benefitted from a full custom retrim with a vibrant Southwestern / Aztec pattern bench seat in red, yellow and blue with red piping. The dashboard has been re-covered in blue faux reptile / snakeskin vinyl, new black carpets and Chevrolet branded sill kick plates. Column-shift automatic transmission, factory bench seat configuration. Black headlining and door cards. A truly one-of-a-kind interior that matches the show-truck exterior. Under the forward-tilting bonnet is a Chevrolet Small Block V8, believed to be a 350ci, presented with custom touches including finned aluminium rocker covers, Edelbrock high-flow air cleaner assembly, aftermarket ignition and new multi-coloured wiring loom. Power assisted braking. The engine bay is presented in black with detailed components. Column-shift automatic gearbox. The truck is shown with the engine installed and appears complete. The 1973-1987 C10 Square-Body is now one of the most collectible American pick-ups in the UK and Europe, and Stepside Custom Deluxe examples are particularly sought-after. This example has clearly been built as a show vehicle with no expense spared on paint and interior custom work.
